The "Guru Bootcamp" - Information Product Training For Beginners


After getting a ton of questions about how to get started in Information Marketing, I decided to create this video to show you the way.

NOTE: This video is for BEGINNERS ONLY. That's why it's called "The Guru Bootcamp." It's the basics. Do not expect advanced techniques and concepts, because you won't find them here.

I really wanted to make it clear that we are going to be offering a lot of training specifically for complete beginners (as well as intermediate and advanced training) in the Guru MasterMind membership program.

Hello Eben, I have been reading and listening (and watching) your content for some time now. Dr Mercola reccomended you and provided a link to your "Get Altitude" programme and I have been looking ever since. For a long time now I have thought about an online business but never really expected it could work for me. I am a Born Again Christian and therefore gaining advantage over others less informed than myself is out for me. So also were most of the other options but as I continue to watch and listen, I see that an E-book on a specific subject would not compete unfarly with anybody else's product because it would be unique in nature. I do have a question though (please). I know there are many software platforms which can accomodate the writing of an E-Book, but I don't like the run-of-the-mill PDFs that e-books always seem to wind up in. To me, PDFs one below the other is too far removed from a real book and I would like to publish my book in a "side-by-side" page format, where if possible, the reader can choose between the standard one-below-the-other (if they really want that) and side-by-side formats of pages "1+2" "2+3" "3+4" as well as "1+2" "3+4" "5+6" - if you catch my drift. This could in itself make my book stand out as different and might even get some good feedback on that issue alone. My real question is can I get (even if I have to buy)! such software. And of course I will need to begin writing with a programme which will permit me to transfer it into the above format for publishing. What do you reccomend? Thank's, Roland - New Zealand

Eben I want to thank you for your patients and understanding, I am new to the web site business and currently have my hands full with its development as I am in a mentoring program that I probably spent too much for and need to devote my full attention so I can make the most of it and try and make it a good investment. Your service looks like something I may be interested in later on to get it fine tuned. I know you probably don't have time to respond to everyone individually, but would appreciate if after a viewing of my efforts online you could give me any advice. Hi, That was a great intro into the subject. Very clear and concise. Even an old coot like me can understand you and the idea of using a video to get your information out is far superior to some of your competition. I am referring to the ones that use a lot of hype to try to sell their product and use wildly colorful pages followed by pages and pages of print. Your video shows you to be a caring and honest business person. That can only come across when people can see you as they listen. It was great! Thank you.

I may have some internet experience but I'm a cpu dinosaur since my career as a systems engineer was way, way, way back in the 1980's. Your presentation is admirable. Your concerns for clear communication are to be commended. Unfortunately, you and your 'teaching' [learner-centered teaching]style represent a tiny fraction of what's needed. Your Guru Bootcamp Tutoial Video was just what you said...Very Basic...But Very Informative. I especially appreciated the info on Paypal...you'd think after researching online for the last couple of years that someone would have gone into more detail about their services. As a "newbie" in online marketing, and an "oldie" in Offline marketing, It seems that MOST GURUs online seem to forget the most BASIC building blocks of generating an income online. There are Literally 100's of thousands of people out there both on & off Line who JUST want a QUICK start STEP by STEP system to generate an income online who don't have the time or money to produce a product from scratch, add a Blog, a squeeze pg., a sales letter, a back-end offer or one-time-offer, etc. They, like me, would like to START OUT by using Affiliate marketing (The RIGHT Way!) with cloaked affiliate links, etc. And NOT with just ClickBank, but with PROVEN Gurus...(ie...How I Made 800K My First 12 months marketing Online Without a Product of My Own! First let me thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to teach some of the basic stuff, given your success in this business without charging a $1,000,000 bucks, smile! I know that I am a "hard sell" and take a lot of convincing. I have a huge advantage over a lot of my friends because I am not visually distracted to buy things that I do not need. I have been looking for a work at home possibility that is accessible for me using a screen reader and I have been continually disappointed. I think that your training might be beneficial for me but I am one of those people who is having to borrow money to pay the rent right now and although I want to learn not able to make any investment. The business idea that I have is really needed and people who are trying to do it so far are not getting the results. Your video has left me optimistic that finally I might have found an accessible web site.

I thought the training was great! I think one of the BIGGEST obstacles I've found in being a 'newbie' is in that first step of: "I need a website". I know exactly what I want the site to do, how I want each page laid out, etc. But so far I've been unable to find all the information I need to get it started in one place. It seems the internet is sometimes like a 'black hole' and I find myself getting sucked in to sales letter after sales letter...should I use WordPress? XSitePro? SiteSell? SquareSpace? Weebly? Will it do what I need it to do? How to I get my site looking like a professional site? After months of research I definitly feel like I have a much better grasp on this...but I think it would just be awesome to have A-Z information on getting that first site up & running. How to make your capture page & add video/audio to it; How to hook it up to an autoresponder (and which one to use!)...etc. Your training on PayPal was very helpful. I appreciate that fact that you're not talking down to those of us just getting started. As someone who's had much professional success OFFLINE and is now trying to create a business online, I appreciate that you're not skimming over important basic info. My confidence has increased tremendously in what you're going to be offering with the Mastermind program...it's great to finally see someone offering training from start to finish in this area. Hi Eben, I must admit that I have never heard of you until yesterday when Thomas Kish sent me an email and suggested that I tune in. Well I can honestly say I am glad I did because you impressed me by your knowledge on the subject and the easy way you get your points across. Thank you for this introduction, I actually learned something for my time, and yes I took notes. It was enlightening to find out after spending all this time online reading and researching this topic, that I am not totally in the dark. I have been searching for a long time for someone to step up and do the right thing by teaching others exactly what they need to do, step by step, to start and grow a successful online business. I believe sir that you might just be that individual. I am curious as to the price of your training program, I can't say right now whether I can afford it or not due to this lack of information. Personally I feel it would be a good investment in someone's future financial situation, now whether that someone is me... The idea of information products is very appealing to me. I have been an information junkie for as long as I can remember. In the old days before the Internet I subscribed to magazines in fields of interest to me and then I discovered Ulricks guide to periodicals and added trade magazines to my repertoire. I am 64 years old and just starting my first Internet business. The information you provided in this video will be useful as it applies to just about any business. The information junkie part of me will want to add information products as I gain experience running a business on the Internet. Thanks for a wonderful presentation.

Eben: You've increased my determination to get going in info marketing. I mean the data gathering stage right now. Suggestions: 1. Consider using more PowerPoint slides. They helped to lead the audience along in following your thinking. I like your style of following an outline and speaking your thoughts guided by the outline. 2. If you're creating written text, consider using a voice to text conversion program such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking or MacSpeech Dictate. These are very powerful programs and will quickly get your words onto the page. I'm using MacSpeech Dictate right now, and it helps me to get conversational language onto the page with far less difficulty. If you need to edit it later that's easy. Keep up the good work! Awesome, awesome stuff, Eben! I think product creation, traffic generation and conversion are really the big 3 skills you have to master to make money online. On that note, are you planning to do any videos specifically with generating traffic? Currently I can get visitors to my site, but it's nowhere near consistent yet. My goal is to get 100-200 targeted visitors a day to my website, and I'd love to hear what you have to say on the subject of how to get lots of visitors to your website. I started creating my own online information business about a month ago (April 08). I knew nothing, and obviously I am still on the steep side of the learning curve. However, the simple, straight to the point teachings received on your videos had made a tremendous difference on my understanding of online marketing and the building a successful business. Besides all the knowledge, what I admire the most is the serenity and the ability to communicate the content. Are you really a [spiritual] Guru of some kind??? eben hello just wanted to say thanks ive only been in the online world for about 8 months but ive busted my ass trying to learn the simple things that none of the big boys wanted to let you know.. .now that its become "okay"to let the cat out of the bag so to speak they're all jumping on the wagon .i could have saved myself endless amounts of frustration and data overload if someone would have just answered the simple questions i was asking .anyone in business knows that the more aware and knowledgable people are about your services's the more apt they are going to be customers, not the other way around..correct? your simple yet very clear bootcamp showed exactly how well done your mastermind sessions are obviously going to be. i should be able to write great copy because i type shittier than i talk .anyway just wanted to put my 2cents in and say to another great success before it starts.thanks again Bryan Longlois buildlistic.com

I have been following the emails on "the secret for some time now and this video is possibly the first utem that has given me practical techniques which were out of the general metaphysical teachings of wealth attraction. I'm going to be selling hard goods initially, but down the road I may put together some information products as well. I learn where ever & whenever I can, but through the school of hard knocks in the online world I'm much more selective about who I invest my learning time with. The time invested watching your videos was more than worth it. I very much appreciate your style of presenting the information as well. I believe things happen in time for a reason and I believe luck is where opportunity meets preparedness. Over the last 5 months my wife and I created two content sites http://CalloftheDog.com and http://YourLoveofWine working at a frenzied exhaustive pace with out any prior experience beyond knowing how to use a computer at a minimal level. The pace at which this was all done has taken its toll and our motivation of fear of failure and had started to weaken the resolve a bit. Eben your video and the encouragement it brought helped re-purpose our effort and breathed fresh life into our mission. You are the angel in disguise, I can not truly thank you for the emotional lift.

Has anyone else had this experience? I recently changed my ISP and had to change my email address, so I dutifully sent off change of email address notices to all the people I receive mail from (quite a few!). Most of their addresses were easy to find but some were difficult. If you look at their sites there is no 'Contact Me' and nowhere on the site does it mention an email address. In many of those cases the only point of contact is 'Support'. So I sent off my change details to that email address. In many cases I received back an automated reply telling me that I had to have a ticket number and to click on the link and go and get one. Usually they also gave you a choice of options 'so that my request could be routed to the right person'. These were something like 'product query'; 'refund request'; 'download difficulty', or items of that nature. But nowhere to lodge a simple request to change an email address. If these internet gurus were interested in maintaining their email lists so that their emails actually arrived at the intended destination I, in my innocence, would have thought they would such a simple change very easy. Has anyone else encountered this difficulty and if so how did you overcome i
