Blueprint for a Successful Information Business...


Here's a new video training for you...

I call this the "Financial Independence" video, because it gives you a high-level outline to follow when building your business, so that you eventually create a business that sets you free, and gives you the lifestyle that you want.

As it turns out, I was ORIGINALLY going to put up this video last week, before the last two. But the editing was complex, and harder than we thought it would be... so here it is now. You'll notice that I don't have my "super fancy" new video set up yet... but the content is GREAT if you'd like to get an overview of how to build an Information Product Marketing business from the ground up.

This is great stuff Eben. I can see how you have used this during your doubleyourdating.com development. But I would like to know about the first point - in order to do personal consultations, I feel that you must really know your stuff. So not only do you have to position yourself as an expert, but you must really be an expert and know more than even an intermediate person. Does this not increase the barriers to entry and require a lot of research in order to have credibility when conducting these 1 to 1s? If there is a shortcut then I would love to know how!

Eben: Thank you for time, energy, and the efforts you invested into putting this information together and distribute it so generously. I have been part of your list for a while and your information has been always right on. You mentioned before in your previous post about Toastmasters and the benefits of it. As a fellow Toastmasters myself, I wanted to share with you some of my impressions. 1. Great intro, delivery, and your conclusion. You made me feel engaged with your content. The transitions between the Power Point slides and your face were done non-intrusively to the audience/your point. 2. Few factors to keep in mind. 2.1 At times, you lost sight of your audience and were reading your notes too much. Maybe consider putting the slides also behind the camera so to minimize that impression. 2.2 It would have been an added benefit to tell us how long this presentation was going to be...I missed that myself....until the timer finally clicked as to how long I have to go to reach the end. 2.3 As an added bonus, if you could allow the audience to download the slides after the presentation to retain these concepts better would be great (maybe it was done intentionally this way). 3. Your pitch for the gurumindset coaching program was done beautifully. It was subtle and inviting. Your presentation made me feel like "I want to learn". Question - is there a resource that explains who you are, where you came from, your mentors, how you got started, etc. About 2 years ago you came out of nowhere to the public scene where you mentioned your doubleyourdating product and how you were able to build a business with it. So 10-15 years ago, what was Eben Pagen doing? Your marketing knowledge is so different and so "dead on" how were you able to dream this great stuff up? Eben, Man did you every hit right between the eyes with ONE statement you said. You said, "don't go in to a market and try to talk them into buying your stuff". Eben...if I would have known this 7 years ago I would have gone a totally different direction. Fast forward 7 years and I am struggling to NOW find a new niche (market) that has that STRONG desire to solve their problems and are emotional (desperate) to accomplish this. The above is SO CRITICAL to online (and offline) success. Find a HUNGRY market and give them want "they want", not what you think they want. Now what...LOL?

HEY EBEN, BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDS. LOVE EM. sorry for caps. SOMETHINGS A MISS THOUGH: it does seem though that you slip up and present a far more exploitive marketing philosophy. or, maybe just a more traditional one? For example, in this above video, you cut the video out at 48:30 minutes or so, because you start talking about perceived value been super important. Then you cut into a added segment where you emphasis the importance of high value product as being as important as high value perception. Ive noticed cuts before like this when your trying to make it sound that your really into high value products when really you sound, imo, more interested or jazzed up when talking about creating high perceived value in your product/ service. I wonder what others think? I cool with whatever your view is and would just rather you speak your truth. MArketing = honesty? eeee....tough one. Hi Eben, thank you very much for provided info (...and moving the free line). I made so many notes and I am thinking a lot about what you said. I have also some questions: Is there any possibility to record or replay the webinars because I am also from Europe and those webinars are during night? How to become guru in my niche? It requires a lot of work and you cant be just one step ahead of your customers. You must behave like a guru in your niche I think. I really like giving consultations for $99 but I would like to know how to get around this because my English isnt fluent (and perfect but I am working hard on it :). The same is for creating Live show (seminar). Is there any way how to pass this? I think surveys could be fine and instead of live show just membership site would be great but I am not sure. I think you skipped how to do a proper market research - so how to do it? Googling the competition, checking search counts from Wordtracker, checking the topsellers in that particual niche? And the last but the most important question: If you are giving the best for free what will remain for customers who buy your product? Eben, You are right about posting free advice - I put up just one article on SelfGrowh.com and then created an expert page there (helped my SEO) and within two weeks about 20 people asked to network with me. I also noticed increased traffic to my new website and autoresponder www.lawofattractioninlove.com. My "problem" is finding the time to post these articles at all these sites! I totally resonate with giving more value for free. It has always been my nature to do so and was afraid in the past I was giving away too much. Now I know from you that I was doing something RIGHT! I just need to followup with the other steps... I just started (this week!) doing a free radio show for my customers (it has doubled to 19!! yeah!) and I advertised the radio show to my list and my friends...and I got 9 live listeners!! I'm so excited. My friends and one customer gave me immediate feedback that the content was excellent. I also put up a "Ask Dr. Karen" box on my site so I can discover what people want and need help with. I use what they tell me to write my free newsletters and to post on my blog and on my radio show. I feel it has been very effective. Thanks for validating this technique of asking your customer what they need and delivering to them. So far none of the 19 has bought my eBook yet and I always refer to it...Maybe the content of the eBook is not what they want. I don't understand the part about why you want to do three, five or ten consults at once since there is no price savings if a person signs up for one vs. ten. Did I miss something? The one thing you said kind of depressed me which was not expecting to make money on my eBook (but using the list as profit). I get it, but I am so much in debt right now, I really wanted to make some passive income ASAP! Help! thanks! Dr. Karen

Here's what I learned so far (from moving the freeline, see other post below): - Many more people show interest (subscribe to the newsletter) - People willingly share the info (since it's valuable), so marketing becomes "viral". - I get comments on how to improve my product: PEOPLE TELL ME WHAT THEY WANT. Eben, I run a website that helps people get six pack abs. Here's how I moved the freeline: I made a video and put it up on YouTube. Before this, I used to sell an abdominal training program for $97 on my website (long salesletter). Now I've made a free smaller version that people get right away when they sign up (squeeze page). They also get a free beginner 6-part course (video, audio and text) that takes place on my blog and is managed using autoresponders. If you consider me for your scholarships I'll be a great student. I'm 23, poor family, at school at the moment and I don't think I'll be able to afford it. I was surprised to learn you come from a poor background, too. Hey Eben- John here. My update... Like I said my ppc it converting on avg at 11.35% for sign ups but only .25% for sales. Your suggestion of "interviewing" the prospect using a free 15 minute eval was a neat idea but I'll be honest I had some trepidation up selling into a 99.00 deal. Good news. It was just a block on my part. After getting over my internal challenges, I made my 1st up sell on my 3rd try. I guess the 3rd time really is the charm :) BUT here's the thing. My original ideas were just OK now I'm getting much better ideas and I'm more on target now that Ive had a chance to listen to my customers. I need to rethink the presentation and the sale letter. Kristy, check out Dr. Clotaire Rapaille's PBS documentary "The Persuaders". There's an interesting thing she discusses about the reptilian brain where people won't admit to certain things, but those very things "work" on them. I remember Eben mentioning in his dating program the reptilian brain, but can't remember if he provided other resources.

Also, as a freelance Project Manager/Business Analyst, I am very impressed with the logical way in which you have presented your material. I've been a web programmer for the past ten years, but I am ready for a career change in which I can make a positive impact in people's lives (and a few bucks) thanks to your blueprint. I am going to start by writing and marketing an e-book that will be the best in the market for my nitch. And when that takes off I'll do video and live trainings like you do and consulting. There's a lot of research to be done do become a subject matter expert. Can you please share with us how you conduct research to develop the content for a new product. I am ready to hit the books! Eban man stop talking like you're the original creator of all the concepts you're talking about in this video.. Moving the Free line is a concept coined by Chris Anderson of wired magazine.... alot of your concepts you're talking about are stuff directly taken from Frank Kern Mass Control the couse you got for free and promoted last month, you just rephrased in your own words... thanks for giving his info for free when I paid good money for it..

Eban You walk the walk, not just talk the talk (although your talk is also awesome!). I am completely astonished by your generous marketing block busters that hit like meteorites, still in shock that I might actually be doing something lucrative one day. I am one of those broke teachers with a PhD but have never known how to market and package it and perpetually live hand to mouth. I have had so many creative ideas since seeing this video, BUT still feel like I'm a kindergartener in school of MIT students when it comes to the technical skills of putting this all together. Eben, Great stuff but I do have a question: How would you apply this to a political web site? A site that is more about "selling" a concept rather than a product or service. letsputamericafirst.com is for those of us that are fed up with the current condition and position of both the Democratic and Republican parties. A site that is for those of us that feel our Leaders have stoped paying attention to the people that they are supposed to serve.
